“Find, fix, track, target, engage, assess” describe the kill chain of the modern naval battle. The
Kill Chain application is a
multi-functional assessment and training tool built around ManTech International’s SYMWAR Modeling and Simulation architecture.
Kill Chain is a PC-based application that integrates commercial-off-the-shelf /open source 2D/3D display technology, Carnegie
Melon developed Soar Artificial Intelligence and system modeling to provide users with the ability to rapidly configure,
and run complex scenarios in support of:
- PC Based Tactical Training
- Requirements Analysis
- Technology Demonstration/Assessment
- Exercise Configuration/Replay
- Doctrine and Tactics Development
- Mission Effectiveness Analysis
Kill Chain bridges the gap between low detail, “campaign modeling” and highly detailed specialized “first principle”
modeling systems. Kill Chain’s capabilities combine PC-based “conflict modeling” and evaluation of “Sensor-to-Shooter”
dynamics across multiple warfare areas. This facilitates metric-based assessment and quantification of the war fighting
value of systems and capabilities. Kill Chain’s architecture is designed to be “data neutral”. Kill Chain models can
support structured model data and algorithms from real world exercises such as SHAREM (SHip Antisubmarine Warfare Readiness /
Effectiveness Measuring) and JTFEX (Joint Task Force Exercise). It also supports doctrinal models such as the sonar equation,
physical models such as AREPS (Advanced Refractive Effects Prediction System) or any other model desired by the user/analyst.
Established, accepted and validated models can be used to support both analysis and training, depending on the desired
requirements or outcome of the model.
